After a strong showing for France in the Olympics, Gabby Williams found herself on a WNBA roster for the remainder of the year. While arriving for the regular season finale, the former top-five pick seemingly endorsed a side in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.
On Thursday, Williams re-posted a photo the Seattle Storm put up of her pregame attire. In the image, she is donning a Kamala Harris T-shirt and captioned it with the phrase "childless cat lady." This was in reference to the Instagram post pop star Taylor Swift made last week while endorsing the U.S. Vice President.
This wasn't the only post the veteran guard made in favor of Vice President Harris on Thursday. She also posted several videos of the Democratic nominee, including a snippet from a recent interview she did.
Gabby Williams, 28, played in 11 games for the Seattle Storm this season following the Olympic break. In that time, the French-American averaged 10.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
The Storm finished the regular season with the No. 5 seed and find themselves with a tough matchup in round one of the playoffs. They are slated to go toe-to-toe against A'ja Wilson and the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.
Gabby Williams finishes run with Storm on a strong note
Coming in at the final stretch of the regular season, Gabby Williams found herself in a tough situation. While she got off to a slow start, she managed to turn things around down the stretch.
After scoring just three points in each of her first two games, Williams' production drastically increased in recent weeks. Over her last seven games, she broke double figures on six occasions.
Gabby Williams' best outing during this stretch came last week against the LA Sparks. In 35 minutes of action, she posted a stat line of 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals. The Storm barely managed to squeak out a win that night, taking down LA by three points.
Williams did not play in the regular season finale on Thursday, likely to get some rest before the postseason. The last time she took the court was Tuesday, ironically against the team the Storm are facing in the first round. Williams posted 14 points, five rebounds and five assists, but the Aces still beat Seattle by double-digits, 98-84.
If the Storm want any chance of pulling off an upset in round one, they're going to need a strong performance from Williams and their other top players. Vegas is chasing history this postseason, which means the team will be looking to come out of the gates strong.
