Looking at how both teams played leading up to Wednesday's Germany vs France game

Leading up to Wednesday's Germany vs France game, both teams finished 2-1 in the Group Phase at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Prior to that, France rattled off five straight wins in its international friendlies leading up to the Summer Olympics, with several of the wins being incredibly dominant.

The team first defeated Finland 129-50 on Jun. 29, before then winning a highly-anticipated rematch several days later 117-59. The team then defeated Serbia on Jul. 12 to record its third straight win before a 75-62 win over Japan on Jul. 19.

In its final international friendly leading up to the Olympics, France picked up a 93-76 win over China to extend its international friendly record to 5-0. Once the Olympics started, the team was able to keep the momentum rolling as it defeated Canada 75-54 in the opening game of the Group Phase.

Les Bleus then picked up another dominant win, defeating Nigeria 75-54 before suffering their first defeat of the summer to Australia on Aug. 4.

On the flip side, the Germans went 6-1 in their international friendlies leading up to the Olympics, first defeating Finland in early July before picking up two dominant wins back-to-back over Portugal and Poland respectively.

Germany then faced adversity in its Jul. 14 game against Puerto Rico to punch its ticket to the Olympics, before going 2-1 in its remaining international friendlies.

Once Olympic action tipped off, the team picked up back-to-back wins over Belgium and Japan to close out the Group Phase. They finished second in Group C.
