Connecticut Sun star DiJonai Carrington shared a bad experience with an Uber driver while out with a couple of friends. The 2024 WNBA Most Improved Player of the Year took to Instagram Live to discuss the situation around the individual with her fans.
A short video shared on Friday shows Carrington getting out of a car in disbelief after her group was ejected from this person's car. She explained part of the situation to the viewers before showing the face of the driver.
"This stuff is crazy and I had to really expose it in real time," Carrington said. "I don't know why white people think they can get away with trying to scare black people by only saying, 'Oh, I'm gonna call the police.' Ok, and we did nothing wrong, so that's fine. Go ahead and call the police."
"There he is ladies and gentlemen. Live and in the flesh for you to see. He tried to kidnap us and take us. Look, now he's trying to talk to our next Uber driver. Let's see how this goes."
Then, the driver tried to talk with another driver. As the former attempted to speak a different language to the Spanish-speaking individual, it prompted DiJonai Carrington to make fun of him.
The incident allegedly occurred when Carrington's group wanted to play music, but the original driver didn't like that idea. Things eventually escalated and the trio was ejected from the first car. This could have ended the situation, but the driver still wanted to charge the ride. The group took issue with that, and the driver started threatening to call the cops on them.
Fortunately, the new driver let them play music and their night continued.
