Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson made a few hilarious yet bawdy jokes during a recent press conference following her team’s latest victory over the Atlanta Dream. The Aces won their third straight game after Wilson's commanding 33-point and 18-rebound display. She also recorded five blocks and three steals, leading her team to an 84-70 victory.
While both Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young contributed, the spotlight was on A'ja Wilson throughout, which was also true in the press conference. Coach Becky Hammon was asked about Wilson's impact, and she replied:
“You know, she got her hands, a lot of balls, blocked a lot of shots.”
The comment immediately earned a smirk from Wilson, who said:
“You know how I do.”
Both the player and her coach burst out laughing. However, it was Wilson’s subsequent tweet that brought forth further laughs on social media:
“Gotta love some good D…efense 🤸🏾♀️”
The bawdy response came after A'ja Wilson registered her fourth game of the season with five or more blocks. Currently averaging 27.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game, Wilson has been a superstar for the Aces, who are looking for a three-peat.
A'ja Wilson continues to make history as Las Vegas Aces win third straight game
The Aces now have a 15-7 record in this campaign, which puts them just below the Minnesota Lynx in the Western Conference. They currently have the third-best record in the WNBA, with the New York Liberty leading at 19-4.
Part of the blame for their slower start goes to Chelsea Gray’s injury, who started her eighth straight game and is yet to regain her top form. Regardless, A'ja Wilson was the star against the Dream, producing her seventh game with at least 30 points this season.
The athlete is now just four rebounds away from league leader Angel Reese and has tied Brittney Griner for the most games with at least 25 points and 10 rebounds in the WNBA. Further, Wilson now has 245 steals in the league, which puts her fourth on the all-time list for her franchise.
The two-time champion is the favorite for the MVP award this season, which goes hand-in-hand with her unserious, hilarious demeanor off the court.
