Angel Reese is preparing for the debut season of Unrivaled, set to begin on Jan. 17 in Miami, Florida. Reese was recently spotted working out with Rose BC teammate Chelsea Gray and fans were buzzing after the Chicago Sky star showed her layup skills.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Reese and Gray are having a casual workout in the gym. Gray made a great pass to Reese after a pick-and-roll screen.
The Sky forward received the ball and finished a falling layup. She banked the shot as she fell. Reese and some Unrivaled players have been working out in Florida to prepare for the league's opening night.
Reese seemingly worked to improve her finishing based on the video. Fans were impressed with it and hoped that it'll be seen more on the court.
"Looks like the whole team, not the two. Maybe Gray can help her with proper layup," a fan tweeted.
"That reverse layup was pretty tuff," one fan quipped.
"Angel finishing high off the glass. Year 2 finna be a movie. Wow," another fan gushed.
Reese had a stellar rookie campaign, finishing second to Caitlin Clark in the Rookie of the Year voting. Reese cemented herself as one of the best rebounders in the WNBA. However, her finishing was a flaw that many are hoping she improved this offseason.
"Gurl stop falling down so much. It’s frontin' like you’re a hustler, but you can get hurt like that," a fan wrote.
"That reverse layup was smoooth," one fan claimed.
"Angel getting to play with one of the best passers in the game," another fan remarked.
While there's plenty of criticism toward Angel Reese, some of the blame should have fallen on the Chicago Sky front office. Reese didn't play with a top point guard, who could have found her some better shots inside the paint.
Who will Angel Reese play with in Unrivaled?
Angel Reese is one of 36 WNBA players set to play in Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 league founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. Reese was drafted by Rose BC, coached by Nola Henry. Her teammates include Chelsea Gray, Brittney Sykes, Kahleah Copper, Lexie Hull and Azura Stevens.
It will be interesting to see if Reese is better when playing alongside a great point guard like Gray. Hull, who is close with Indiana Fever teammate Caitlin Clark, creates a different dynamic that fans might want to see later this month.
