Following a dominant run in the regular season, Napheesa Collier got the Minnesota Lynx within one win of a WNBA title. After coming up just short in Game 5 of the finals on Sunday, the All-Star forward looked back on the season.
On Monday afternoon, Collier posted a series of photos from the season on her Instagram.
"Gut wrenching end to an incredible season," she captioned the post. "I have loved every minute of being around this team, I love you guys sm you have made this the most incredible year.
"Huge thank you to our coaches and staff, you guys are so amazing. And thanks to all the fans for supporting us this season, we’ll be back."
Napheesa Collier left it all on the floor for the Lynx in Sunday's Game 5, posting a stat line of 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks. However, it wasn't enough to get Minnesota over the hump, with the Liberty winning 67-62 in overtime.
For Collier, this ending was a rough spot in what has been an impressive year. She was one of the WNBA's best players, winning Defensive Player of the Year and Commissioner's Cup MVP, and finishing as the runner-up for regular-season MVP.
Napheesa Collier made WNBA history during Minnesota Lynx finals run
When it comes to the top all-around players in the WNBA, Napheesa Collier is among the first names mentioned. En route to leading the Lynx to the finals, she also managed to etch her name in the history books.
Her two-way play was on full display as she got the Lynx within arm's reach of their first championship since 2017.
Despite the tough finals loss, Napheesa Collier made history with her all-around impact. She became the first player in WNBA history to lead a single playoff campaign in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.
Looking at her career playoff numbers, Collier posted career-highs across the board. In 12 matchups, she averaged 23.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists. Collier's best single-game performance came in Round 1 against the Phoenix Mercury when she erupted for 42 points in a win.
Still in the prime of her career, this likely isn't the last time we see Collier on the game's biggest stage. As she mentioned in her post, she and the Lynx will be aiming to get back to the finals in 2025 and beyond.
