Stephanie White, the newest coach of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, hopped on the "Coaching U" podcast on Sunday. During her appearance, she discussed her new role where she will coach some of the league's most promising young stars.
In addition to Clark, White will also coach two-time All-Star Kelsey Mitchell and 2023 Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston. White outlined her goals for these young stars and the Fever franchise as a whole.
According to White, her job is to help the Fever's core players grow, while also keeping the franchise’s long-term aspirations in focus.
"These players got great experience in the playoffs this year," White said. "They're all hungry to grow, improve and hungry to be coached and win. When you have three foundational players and your big three have that mindset great things can happen."
"It's our job as coaches to continue to put them in positions to succeed and our job as a franchise to put the pieces around them. Ultimately, our goal is to win championships and hang banners." (9:46-10:18)
Stephanie White has already achieved success coaching the Indiana Fever. She replaced Lin Dunn when she retired in 2014, and in her first year as head coach, she led the team to the WNBA Finals.
However, back then, White didn't have players like Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston or Kelsey Mitchell. Instead, she had another star in Tamika Catchings, a five-time Defensive Player of the Year (2005, 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2010) and one-time MVP (2011).

Stephanie White and Caitlin Clark have discussed plans for development
Caitlin Clark could follow up her record-setting rookie season with an even better sophomore year with coach Stephanie White. After she was named the Fever's new head coach on Nov. 1, White joined ESPN's Malika Andrews for an interview.
During that interview, Andrews asked White what made her take this job. White specifically named Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell as part of her decision, saying the Fever has an exciting collection of young stars.
During White's guest appearance on "Coaching U," she shared that she has spoken with Clark about basketball development.
According to White, she asked Clark how she wanted to improve and what steps she wanted to take in her development as a player. White also shared her plans for utilizing Clark in the team's schemes.
In her rookie season, Caitlin Clark averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.3 steals. She won the Rookie of the Year Award, earned an All-Star nod and was named to the All-WNBA first team.
Despite her strong maiden year, there were also struggles. Her most glaring weakness was her struggle to take care of the ball as she averaged 5.6 turnovers per game.
