NBA legend Michael Jordan's daughter, Jasmine Jordan, was ecstatic as Kiki Rice honored her UCLA roots with ocean-inspired custom PE Jordan Brand shoes.
The UCLA star took to Instagram on Saturday to unveil the kicks with a post, coupling it with a caption that elaborated on her journey with the brand. Jasmine took to the post's comment section to relay her praise for Rice.
"Hell yeaaa!! 🔥🔥 proud of you sis 👏🏾," Jasmine wrote.
While Michael Jordan's daughter doesn't play basketball, Jasmine Jordan is connected to the sport through her dad's Jordan brand. With a sports management degree from Syracuse University, Jasmine currently works as a field representative in sports marketing for the company.
Kiki Rice signed with the Jordan Brand in 2022 and became its first NIL athlete to have a player-exclusive colorway when she debuted the Air Jordan 38 Low 'Cherry Blossom' PEs in February 2024.
Rice was also instrumental in the brand's development of Jumpman's first women's basketball shoe, the Heir Series, and spoke on the release of the series in October.
"Understanding that the Heir Series is specifically designed from my insights as well as other women athletes on the roster is really representative of the change that's going on right now in women's basketball," Rice said.
"Being able to contribute to the design and feel of this shoe is something I don't take for granted. I love the aesthetic and think the color blocking lends itself to be a great vehicle for storytelling and advancing the women's game and basketball overall."
The Heir Series is Jordan Brand’s lowest basketball shoe, designed specifically for women hoopers' style of play.
Kiki Rice to debut her ocean-inspired Jordan Brand PEs against Maryland
As announced by her on the Instagram post, Kiki Rice is set to debut her ocean-inspired Jordan Brand PEs on Sunday as the UCLA Bruins face the Maryland Terrapins.
Rice's custom colorway celebrates both her journey at UCLA and her connection to the ocean. The kicks feature an outsole that emulates sand while the upper features ocean-inspired details.
Currently in her junior year, Kiki Rice is averaging 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game in the season. She is shooting 56.1% from the field, including 37.5% from beyond the arc, as UCLA remains undefeated with a 19-0 record.
