Chicago Sky rookie sensation and Maryland native Angel Reese admitted to being a Baltimore Ravens fan rather than that of the Washington Commanders, leaving WNBA fans with varying reactions on social media.
The 22-year-old WNBA All-Star forward, who hails from Randallstown, said so when asked on X by a user which NFL team between the Ravens and the Commanders she supports.
Angel Reese was short and clear with her answer:
"ravens DUH."
WNBA fans shared their varying takes on Reese' choice. Below are what some had to say on X, formerly Twitter:
A Commanders fan made his feelings known both towards Reese and the Ravens:
"Hoodlums supporting hoodlums"
"'As if Angel couldn't get worse,' another dissenting take from a user said."
"'I hate this answer so bad,' one clearly wrote."
There were others who gave their thumbs-up to Reese for picking up the Ravens.
"'She knows ball and doesn't roll with lesser teams,' an observant fan said."
"Another one expressing agreement wrote, 'Yes gurl I know that's right!!."
"One Ravens fan, meanwhile, said he is now in allegiance with Angel Reese for picking his favorite NFL team, saying, 'You're going to get a lot of Ravens fans following you now. Myself included.'"
Some fans, meanwhile, related her choice of the Ravens with her rivalry with fellow rookie Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever.
"'Well that settles any debate between you and Caitlyn. I had you ahead before but now it's not close,' a user expressed."
"Still another wrote, 'That confirms Angel Reese > Caitlin Clark.'"
The Ravens made it all the way to the AFC Championship game last season but lost to eventual Superl Bowl LVIII champions Kansas City Chiefs. Washington, meanwhile, failed to make the postseason. The two teams play one another on Oct. 14 in a regular-season game in Baltimore.
