"Shout out to Caitlin Clark, man… Basically 12 straight months of hoops, all with insane pressure and expectations and she just kept getting better the whole way. Hooped her a** off," Timpf tweeted.
Caitlin Clark had a historic rookie campaign, leading the Fever to their first playoff appearance since 2016 and breaking numerous WNBA records on her way. The first overall pick lived up to the tremendous hype that preceded her ever since the conclusion of her stellar collegiate career.
A few of the most notable records that Clark broke during her rookie campaign include the WNBA single-season assists record, rookie points record, rookie single-season 3-point record and single-game assists record.
Caitlin Clark concluded the regular season averaging 19.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 8.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 41.7% from the field and 34.1% from deep.
The WNBA All-Star secured another accolade in her final WNBA game of the season, becoming the only rookie to record 25+ points, 5+ rebounds and 5+ assists in a playoff game.
"Just scratching the surface": Caitlin Clark grades her rookie season
In the postgame conference following the Indiana Fever's Game 2 elimination against the Connecticut Sun, Caitlin Clark spoke about her rookie season. When asked to grade her first year in the league, Clark first highlighted the impact of the people she's had around her and then answered with a review of her rookie season.
"I don't know how I would grade myself, I'm a tough grader," Clark said. "I feel like I had a solid year, but for me, the fun part is if I feel like I'm just scratching the surface and I'm one that's nitpicking every single thing that I do and I know I wanna help this franchise get even better, help my teammates get even better, be better for my teammates.
"I know there's a lot of room to grow for me, so that's what excites me the most," Clark continued. "I feel like I can continue to get a lot better and before we know it I'm sure we'll all be back here and ready for the next year."
