Critics continue drawing parallels between women's basketball superstars Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers. The latest instance, unfortunately, is for the wrong reasons. The players' fanbases got into a war online after Bueckers suffered a leg injury during UConn's game against the Villanova Wildcats on Sunday.

The incident occurred late in the third quarter after Bueckers dove for a loose ball to avoid a turnover. Wildcats' #11 Jasmine Bascoe also made the hustle play, but she crashed into Bueckers' legs. The UConn star got injured because of it and exited the contest.

The collision sparked a public outcry for foul play from her fans, which received immense pushback. Many downplayed it, calling it a 'basketball play.' That prompted Buekcers' supporters to remind Clark's fans about their potential reaction if it was the Fever star who suffered the impact of such a collision instead of Bueckers.

However, Caitlin Clark's fans clapped back at the claim.

"False. Clark got that kind of treatment. You hypocrites called it a basketball play," one fan wrote.
"Caitlin has nothing to do with this," another said.

One fan tweeted:

"you are joking right? she was going for the ball. have you ever played ball?" another fan added.

One fan tweeted a video of Clark's foul and wrote:

"Funny how it all changes when it’s not done to CC," another said.

Caitlin Clark had 17% flagrant fouls committed against her, 80% from Chicago Sky alone

Caitlin Clark faced some tough physical tests in her debut WNBA season. The Indiana Fever star endured 17% of the flagrant fouls during the season committed against her. Meanwhile, 80% of those came against one team, Angel Reese's Chicago Sky.

The first one against Clark was when she faced the LA Sparks. Aari McDonald was in her landing space on a 3-point attempt. The second one was blatant and the most controversial. It was against the Sky. Chennedy Carter shoved Clark when the ball was out of bounds. Even the Fever star didn't hold back, saying it "wasn't a basketball play."

The other three also came against the Sky and involved her rival, Angel Reese. The Sky star cleanly blocked Clark's layup attempt, but contact on the follow-through warranted a flagrant from the refs. Both players considered it a basketball play. It wasn't as controversial.

The last two flagrant fouls against Caitlin Clark were both in the same game against the Sky. The first incident was Michaela Onyenwere being in Clark's landing space on a 3-point attempt, and the other involved Diamond DeShields (video above), who rammed into the Fever star despite the game being well out of Indiana's reach.
