Long before she made it to the WNBA, Angel Reese was already catching plenty of attention. Her unapologetic nature, trash-talking, and physical play made her a controversial player in college, but that also granted her a huge following. More than that, the 'Bayou Barbie' honored her nickname by showing off her taste for fashion and clothing.
That's why it wasn't much of a surprise to see her pop up at the 2024 Met Gala or a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. With that in mind, Vogue magazine announced her as a cover star for their Winter 2025 issue. There, in an interview with Maya Singer on Wednesday, Reese shed some light on her passion for combining sports and fashion:
“It’s always been both: basketball and fashion,” Reese said. “But I was a fashion girlie from young too. Like—let me find this picture my mom sent. I was always in my mom’s closet, putting on her stuff.
"I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do. I used to watch America’s Next Top Model with Tyra and practice my walk in the living room.”
Reese has an endorsement deal with Reebok, which allows her to curate a personal product collection called "Angel's Picks." She also has deals with Hershey and fashion brand UGG among others.
Angel Reese is just getting started
Angel Reese had a strong first season with the Chicago Sky. She set a single-season record for rebounding (446), also setting marks for rebounds per game (13.1) and offensive rebounds in a season (172), and was the first player to grab 20+ rebounds in consecutive games.
Reese also logged a WNBA record 15 consecutive double-doubles. Unfortunately, a season-ending wrist injury cut her campaign short. The Sky forward will look to bounce back and return to the playoffs after missing the postseason this year.
Angel Reese will next play in Unrivaled's inaugural season with Rose BC. The league will tip off on January 17, and all games will be broadcast by either TNT or truTV. They will also be streamed live on Max.
