Angel Reese and Kahleah Copper seem to have struck a great friendship in Miami. Both the WNBA stars are teammates with the Rose Club in the Unrivaled and seem to be already gelling with each other.
On Jan. 7, the X exchange between Cooper and Angel Reese became a hilarious back-and-forth. The Chicago Sky star jokingly blasted the Phoenix Mercury player for TikTok excuses.
In reply to the LA Sparks star Dearica Hamby's post, Reese asked her when she was going to teach her to play spades. Cooper quickly entered the conversation and expressed her desire to be part of it. Hamby was never seen in the conversation again, since Reese kept trolling the Mercury guard.
"when you [Hamby] teaching me how to play spades?" Reese asked Hamby.
"US** @dearicamarie 😌," Kahleah Copper entered the conversation.
"omgeee good morning grandmaaaa Kah!! i have a Tiktok for us this fine Tuesday morning 🥰," Reese proposed.
When Cooper tried to remind Reese that they had agreed for Sunday, Reese had a hilarious reply.
"this the same person wanting to get more active on tik tok??? i’m done with you!!"
The grandma joke between Reese and Cooper happened a few days ago when Cooper refused to be on TikTok. On Jan. 3, Cooper was recording Angel Reese's TikTok video but Cooper refused to be a part of it and just wanted to be the camera person. Reese had hilariously remarked, "Grandma, you are not that old."
Stephen A. Smith gives his take on Angel Reese deleting IG after revealing outfit backlash
As much as Angel Reese has made a name for herself in the WNBA, purely on her talent, the public gaze seems to be shifting away from her identity as a sportsperson and more towards as a woman.
On New Year, Reese posted a picture that social media called too revealing. Following the backlash, the Sky star deleted her Instagram profile, while still keeping her X account.
Addressing the backlash and Reese consequently deleting her Instagram, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith curiously compared her choice of outfit to Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. Smith briefly spoke about Reese's choosing to play in the Unrivaled and then moved on to the backlash.
"What's not debatable is how Caitlin Clark has handled her brand," Smith said. "With Angel Reese, you sometimes find yourself scratching your head wondering what the hell she's doing, like that photo right there. She's a beautiful young lady, and there are a lot of beautiful young ladies in the WNBA.
"But you can't come down the line and complain about being objectified later on. It's not going to work with people. When you do stuff like that and draw attention to yourself, that can be problematic for you, especially when the comparison is going to be drawn to Caitlin Clark who isn't doing such things." [48:00]
Angel Reese has worked hard to reach and earn respect among her fans and peers. Talking about her game and not about her off-court dressing choices would be justice not only to her but to basketball as a sport too.
