Indiana Fever guard Erica Wheeler turned some heads with a cryptic post on social media. Coming off her eighth season in the WNBA, Wheeler gained more fans thanks to her performances with the Indiana Fever, and many of them were concerned about her message.
The veteran took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a couple of messages about liars early on Saturday.
"Ion like when I know the truth to someone lie! Especially from someone i love!" she first posted.
"…I am scared of people who lie with ease! no flinch or nothing like not even after the second time asking the question. Cause now I don’t know how to handle you. I’ll never know what’s a lie or the truth!" she added.
Despite not having the most spectacular numbers, Erica Wheeler became an important member of the Indiana Fever. The 33-year-old averaged 3.6 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 41.1% from the field and 84.6% from deep.
It was unclear what she was referring to, but supportive comments didn't take long to arrive. Her fans didn't hesitate to be there and even offered encouraging words.
WNBA fans react to Erica Wheeler's cryptic message on social media
Once Erica Wheeler shared these messages, plenty of her fans offered support. The guard was showered with positive reactions to let her know sometimes people lie for the sake of it.
"I only came across one - I knew she was lying and could not tell. Sociopathic," one fan wrote.
"Agreed. Sorry you are experiencing this. Beautiful spirits like yours need good people around you," another fan said.
"Oh no, EW. Sorry about whatever is going on with you. You sound pretty upset," another fan said.
Others kept wondering why people would engage in that type of behavior and even asked Wheeler if this had something to do with the Indiana Fever.
"I think you have to ask yourself, why are they lying to you? Are they ashamed? Are they trying to protect you? Or it could be that they are a lying liar who lies," one fan said.
"I hope it wasn’t fever management. Fever need you more then anyone. The fans love you!" another fan said.
After a 2024 WNBA season in which they returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2016, Erica Wheeler and the Indiana Fever carry high expectations for 2025.
