Angel Reese responded to claims about her low GPA after reacting to an old video of her giving a speech in high school. The Chicago Sky forward is currently on vacation following her season, which was cut short by a wrist injury and the team's elimination from playoff contention in the final days of the regular season.
As usual, Reese has been active on social media and after an old video of her giving a speech in high school was posted on X (formerly Twitter), she let people know she's smart, contrary to what many might think.
"omggg no yall didn’t like where did yall find this 😭😭😭 & that’s why i let yall run wit that lil gpa thing cause i been smart but whateversssss😭😫😘," she tweeted.
Back in November, while still at LSU, Angel Reese was suspended and rumors surfaced claiming that the suspension was due to her low GPA. She took to X (formerly Twitter) to clear the air, saying that people shouldn't believe everything they read on the internet.
"please don’t believe everything you read."
A report from the Washington Post claimed that Kim Mulkey said in two different emails that Reese wasn't eligible for the Wooden Award because of her GPA. Moreover, the coach said that Reese spent too much time on social media, which didn't sit well with Mulkey.
Reese had a big response to those who said she had a low GPA, including former teammate Flu'Jae Johnson's mother, who said she had a 2.0 or less GPA.
"Ahhh i graduate on saturday!!! ON TIME IN MY 4 YEARS😘😘 i don’t have to wake up and think about another assignment lmaoooo. i called my momma & she running around the house so happy cause she know all the odds that were against me & she so happy it’s all over and i can live my best life now😇💖," she tweeted in May.
Angel Reese is already having a busy offseason
Once the 2024 season ended for the Sky, Angel Reese took off. The former No. 7 overall pick landed in Los Angeles on Sunday, attending two high-profile events. First, she watched the thrilling San Francisco 49ers vs LA Rams game, which the home team won in the final seconds.
Later, she attended Usher's "Past Present Future" concert at the LA Clippers' Intuit Dome. While she recovers from the wrist injury, Reese is having a nice time, but many fans are eager to see her back in the gym soon.
