Caitlin Clark gets candid on struggling to ignore buzz around altercation with Chennedy Carter

Indiana Fever young star Caitlin Clark has been the talk of the town since she entered the WNBA in April. As one of the most hyped prospects in league history, she's drawn a lot of attention, even from opponents who have been extra physical with her.

It's been almost a week since the Chennedy Carter incident that sparked several debates on social media and Caitlin Clark was asked about her thoughts on it. She said she doesn't follow social media, but revealed she knows what people are talking about:

"I'm not on social media so I don't see a lot of it, but you would be surprised, like I still have my TV on, like I'm watching sports, you're still aware, you still see it. But other than that, my focus is basketball. Sometimes it stinks how much the conversation is outside of basketball."

Talking about her mindset about the situation, Clark explained that everybody has an opinion, but she's trying to not pay much attention to all the comments:

"I try to block it out, I don't have social media on my phone. I don't see a lot of it, but I don't think it's that different from when I was in college. Everybody's gonna have their opinion. Everybody's entitled to their own opinion.
"That's just what it is and I think we have to be focused on what's in your locker room, what's in your organization, how your teammates feel, how your coaches feel, and that's my focus but also I have a job to do at the same time so that's where my focus remains."

UConn HC says social media has put too much pressure on Caitlin Clark

UConn HC Geno Auriemma had some things to say about the pressure Caitlin Clark is carrying coming into the WNBA. For Auriemma, social media has played a key role in the way Clark is seen and all the pressure she must carry.

"This kid's on the wrong team. She's got the wrong skillset to handle the physicality of that league and she's a rookie. And if you're a WNBA player, if you're any kind of player, you're gonna say, 'I'm going to make a statement,'" Auriemma said. (1:35 mark)
"Targeted by society, targeted by her looks, targeted by her reputation, targeted by the disrespect they've shown to the WNBA. There's a huge target on this kid's back."
