Angel Reese is among the few women basketball players with millionaire status. However, that hasn't always been the case. Reese was raised by a single mother, who worked hard to run the family.
To her credit, the Chicago Sky star earned the college scholarship that helped her survive the beginning years of her college basketball career. It was only after her NIL deals that Reese started making money, and eventually became a millionaire athlete.
Reese took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, reposting a story from June 2019 from her high school gym. Reese recalled being broke and almost used to work a 12-hour shift to earn money.
"Humble beginnings 😭 I used to be broke clocking in for work then going to practice 😭🤣 smash burger days jyktyk. Sometimes I used to literally work from 10am to 10pm 🤣🤣😭," she wrote in the caption.
According to Spotrac, Angel Reese earned $73,439 in 2024 through her WNBA salary. She also earns money through endorsement deals with different brands including Reebok. She also hosts her podcast on YouTube.
Angel Reese's podcast ranked among top athlete podcast
Angel Reese's success off the court has been almost as impressive as her on-court success, if not better. The Chicago Sky star's podcast "Unapologetically Angel" was ranked by Boardroom among the top 14 podcasts.
Grateful for the recognition, Reese reposted the post by Boardroom on her Instagram story and thanked her fans.
"Thank ya," she wrote.
Some of the notable podcasts among the top 14 included Carmelo Anthony's 7PM in Brooklyn, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart's Roommates and Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce's KG Certified.
The only podcast hosted by a female athlete on the list, apart from Reese was A Touch More with Sue Bird & Megan Rapinoe.
Angel Reese launched her podcast in September. Since then the channel has garnered over 113K subscribers. The podcast is powered by Playmaker and Shaquille O'Neal's The Big Podcast network.
So far, the podcast has invited guests from multiple areas including sports, music and entertainment. She has had NBA and WNBA greats like Dwyane Wade, Shaq and Sheryl Swoopes on her podcast. Reese also hosted American rappers GloRilla and Sexyy Red on her podcast.
