Jan Jensen, Caitlin Clark's coach during her collegiate career at the Iowa Hawkeyes, showered the Indiana Fever star with praise following her WNBA rookie record game against the Dallas Wings on Sunday. Clark broke the WNBA rookie single-season scoring record in the game, which was previously held by Seimone Augustus, who placed the mark at 744 points in 2006.

In an X post on Sunday, Jensen congratulated the former Hawkeyes star and highlighted Clark breaking various records during her collegiate career and how that has carried on to the WNBA.

"Andddd….Another record goes down! 🙌🏻 People, think about allll the records she set @uiowa 🙌🏻 Then, ponder the records she’s set in the @WNBA as a rookie …while carrying so much! Simply impressive in every realm! Congrats @CaitlinClark22 So proud of you! But, love ya even more!" Jensen wrote.

Caitlin Clark secured the WNBA rookie record as she led the Indiana Fever to a thrilling 110-109 win against the Dallas Wings with her career-high 35 points in the game. She also recorded two rebounds, eight assists and three steals while shooting 45.5% from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc.

With one more regular season game left for the Fever, the record likely capped Clark's historic rookie season as she shattered various WNBA records. The All-Star had also broken the league's most assists in a season record during the Fever's previous game against the Las Vegas Aces on Friday.

Jensen was former Iowa coach Lisa Bluder's associate head coach for 24 years before being named the head coach in May after Bluder's retirement.

Caitlin Clark's 35-point performance against the Dallas Wings on Sunday was her fourth 30+ point outing of the season. In the on-court interview following her record night on the Indiana Fever's home court, the first overall pick of the 2024 WNBA draft spoke of her career-high performance after a slight dip in efficiency in the previous two games.

"Once you see the ball go through the basket a little bit, I still had a few ins and outs, and I'm like, 'Man, how's it not going in?'" Clark said. "But I felt like I played a good game, my shot felt well, I thought we could have moved the ball a little bit better, but overall I thought we played well.

"Our defense could have been a little better, especially to start the game, but I'm proud of this group, and I'm really thankful for these fans. It's been a fun season inside here, and hopefully we can bring the playoffs back here for a few times for them as well."

With the win on Sunday, the Indiana Fever climbed to a 20-19 record and are sixth in the WNBA standings with one more game left. Caitlin Clark led the Fever's effort as they clinched their first playoff berth since 2016 as fans eagerly await what more the star rookie can bring in the postseason.
