Steph Curry was one of the major attractions at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn as the New York Liberty hosted the Las Vegas Aces in a marquee Sunday matchup. The Golden State Warriors superstar linked up with Liberty's sharpshooter Sabrina Ionescu and the two shared a wholesome moment exchanging a heartfelt hug. The two three-point shooting stalwarts were all smiles as they posed to the shutterbugs.
Ionescu had 14 points, four rebounds, and as many assists as the Liberty racked up a 75-71 win over the 2x defending champions. They were led by Breanna Stewart's double-double (21 points and 11 rebounds), and Jonquel Jones (15 points and eight rebounds).
Curry was also joined by former teammate and 'Splash Brother' Klay Thompson and his new Dallas Mavericks teammate Klay Thompson. The two champs shared a comical and heartfelt moment, and they dapped each other up at the arena.
Steph Curry's hilarious reaction after seeing Klay Thompson with Dereck Lively II goes viral
Steph Curry pulled off quite the comic expression with his "eew" after seeing Klay Thompson with Dereck Lively II at the Barclays Center. While the entire episode was all in good fun, the reaction will surely be one of the off-season pictures that will make it to the upcoming season as classic meme material. Curry and Thompson have been in the Big Apple for a few days. They were earlier spotted in attendance at the US Open.
The two are no longer teammates after the Warriors lost Thompson to the Mavericks during free agency this Summer. The veteran F/G was on the radar of multiple teams including his hometown team, the LA Lakers. However, he chose to link up with the Mavs duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, changing the balance of power in a stacked West.
As for Curry and Sabrina Ionescu, the two were the star attractions last All-Star weekend going toe-to-toe in the 3-point shooting competition. Weeks ago, they won the gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This season promises to be another brilliant one for Ionescu as NY looks favorite to win the WNBA title.
While the same cannot be said for Steph Curry and the new-look Warriors, they still cannot be written off as long as they have the 4x NBA champion in their fold. It remains to be seen if he can lead Golden State to a fifth title under his leadership this 2024-25 season.
