Although Wilson did not play tonight, she concluded the season with impressive stats: 1,021 points and 451 rebounds. Her average of 26.9 points per game also marks a new record for single-season scoring.
A'ja Wilson discusses her scoring and rebounding records
After hitting the 1,000-point mark for the season in a game against the Sun on Sunday, A'ja Wilson took a moment in the locker room to emphasize the role her teammates played in her success.
In a video posted by the Aces on social media, Wilson shared her thoughts with her teammates after reaching this significant milestone.
"I hope y'all know how much I love each and every last one of y'all," she said.
"Y'all will never understand how much y'all mean to me because there's days where I hate being A'ja Wilson. I hate it. But when I come in to work and I see y'all smiling and I see y'all just happy, (it) makes me who I am."
After breaking the rebounding record, she expressed her joy at having her name included in the record books.
"It's a blessing," Wilson said (per WNBA.com). "This league is tough, so if my name can be in the record books in some sort of way, it's a blessing. So that's cool."
The Las Vegas Aces are set to face the Seattle Storm in the first round of the playoffs, having finished the regular season with a 3-1 record against them, in which Wilson played a crucial role.
She averaged 25.3 points and 11.8 rebounds while shooting 47.3% from the field. However, her shooting percentage against the Storm is the second lowest compared to other teams, with her lowest being 42.5% against the Chicago Sky.
