Caitlin Clark makes WNBA history vs New York Liberty
Coming off a historic college career, Caitlin Clark entered the WNBA with massive expectations. The Indiana Fever guard has played well to start her career, and recently etched her name in the history books. Over the weekend, the Fever found themselves matched up against the first-place New York Liberty. Indiana managed to pull off an upset, and Clark played a major part in the victory.
In 38 minutes of action, Caitlin Clark finished with an impressive stat line of 19 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists. With this performance, she became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.
Led by this dominant performance from Clark, the Fever took down the Liberty by a final score of 83-78. This marked New York's fourth loss of the season thus far. They got a strong performance from Sabrina Ionescu (22 points, four assists), but it wasn't enough to take down Clark and company.
Through her first 22 games, Clark is averaging 16.1 points, six rebounds and 7.4 assists. She's been the heavy favorite for Rookie of the Year all season, but Angel Reese has managed to close the gap in recent weeks.
Aside from her scoring, Clark continues to impress with her playmaking. Over her last five games, she racked up double-digit assists on four occasions. Clark's 13 assists against the Liberty ties her season high previously set against the Chicago Sky two weeks ago.
