Women's basketball icon Caitlin Clark attended TIME magazine’s year-end “A Year in TIME” celebration honoring the personalities that shaped 2024. The magazine recently announced Clark as its Athlete of the Year.

The Indiana Fever star was seen in a stylish black dress highlighting her figure with its low-cut front and back design. Her hair was styled in a formal bun.

In some photos, she also posed with her TIME cover, which features her with a basketball in a black-and-white setting

Musician Elton John was also present at the event as the Icon of the Year, along with AMD's leader, Lisa Su, who was recognized as the CEO of the Year.

Clark is just the second female athlete to receive the Athlete of the Year award after gymnast Simone Biles, and she is also the second basketball player to earn this honor after LeBron James.

Caitlin Clark addresses says she’s mastered blocking out the noise

While she has generated considerable attention for women's basketball, Caitlin Clark has also faced negativity.

However, Clark has become skilled at disregarding negative comments. In her TIME feature, Clark said:

“I have a great skill of just blocking it out. I don't care what people say about me.”

Clark also noted that much of the negativity originates from individuals who are not longtime WNBA fans.

“A lot of people that wanted to have opinions on what was happening probably didn't even watch half the games that they were trying to have a take on and hadn't supported the W for a really long time,” Clark said.
“I tell people I feel like the most controversial person,” Clark added. “But I am not. It’s just because of all the storylines that surround me. I literally try to live and treat everybody in the same exact respectful, kind way. It just confuses me at times.”

Clark also recognized the increased attention she has brought to the WNBA and stressed the importance of recognizing Black players as well.

Clark had a remarkable debut year in the WNBA, receiving First Team All-WNBA honors, being named Rookie of the Year and establishing records for assists and 3-point shooting while contributing to the league's increased viewership and attendance.
