Cameron Brink has undergone surgery for her torn ACL
Cameron Brink was called up to join Team USA's women's 3x3 basketball squad for the Paris Olympics. Unfortunately, less than three weeks later, Brink tore her left ACL during a game against the Connecticut Sun.
The injury occurred in the first quarter of their June 18 matchup. Brink drove toward the basket against Sun forward Brionna Jones, awkwardly planted her foot and collapsed in pain. She immediately grabbed her left knee and struggled to put weight on it, requiring assistance from the team staff to leave the court.
A month after her injury, she shared an update on her Instagram, thanking her supporters as she started her recovery.
"Chillin on the road to recovery 🤍🦵🏻thank you all for the well wishes:) I’m feeling extremely encouraged, supported & ready to make small strides everyday. #delayednotdenied," she said.
With Brink sidelined, the Sparks are missing her contributions of 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.3 blocks per game.
The Sparks have lost 19 of their last 21 games, including an eight-game losing streak from June to July. This was followed by another seven-game skid that began in July and was recently extended with their loss to the Dallas Wings on Sunday.
