Angel Reese signed with Reebok in October 2023, just before her final year in college. Shaquille O’Neal, the brand’s President of Basketball, made the then-LSU superstar its first major NIL signing. O’Neal called her the “GOAT” when the signing was announced, per a Sports Illustrated report.
Since the WNBA season started, the Chicago Sky rookie has been teasing her fans with shoes and merchandise that will eventually come out. Roughly 10 months after agreeing to a contract with Reebok, the wait will be over in two weeks.
Nick DePaula had this to report regarding the latest from Angel Reese:
“FIRST LOOK: The ‘Reebok by Angel’ collection — WNBA star @Reese10Angel’s debut collection of 3 footwear & 7 apparel pieces with Reebok launching on August 23rd.”
In an interview with the “Boardroom,” Reese had this to say about the launching of her project:
“I am honored to unveil my first collection with Reebok, and worked hand in hand with the brand to ensure each and every piece is designed to elicit confidence and expression.”
Angel Reese told AFROTECH in October last year that she chose Reebok over other brands. She said she could have “signed easily” with the Jumpman, but decided not to do it. The “Chi Barbie” wanted to blaze her own path and bring “Reebok back.”
Reese is unapologetic about her personality and convictions. The brand re-designed the “Premier Road VI” to fit the Chicago star’s style. It will not be lost on her fans that the midsole has “Unapologetically Angel” printed on it.
Angel Reese has become the face of women’s Reebok basketball
Angel Reese did not hold back when asked why she joined Reebok instead of Jordan. She picked the brand because she knew it didn’t have a signature athlete to carry women’s basketball. With the release of her collab, Reese has already achieved that goal.
The All-Star forward wanted to bring her unique style and the brand has given her that platform. She said this following the contract signing, (via Yahoo! Sports):
“Y’all like what I wear, y’all like how I dress? Y’all like my style. So like I wanted to incorporate that into Reebok. I want people wearing my shoes.”
The Chicago Sky rookie can check that goal off her bucket list. It’s safe to assume her millions of fans will be hyped up to grab a pair of her sneakers or merchandise. Reese’s style is unmistakably expressed in her collection. The shoes and the apparel are bold, chic and daring.
