The Minnesota Timberwolves made the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2004 last season. The Timberwolves eliminated the defending champion, the Denver Nuggets in the second round.

Anthony Edwards was hailed as a superstar, while Karl-Anthony Towns settled into his role as the secondary scorer. Rudy Gobert was a monster defensively and won his fourth Defensive Player of the Year.

Speaking on "Podcast P" with Paul George, Towns knew they were going to have a great season before the campaign started.

"I knew we were special when we went to Abu Dhabi and the way we looked so early on in the season," Towns said. "We looked locked in, we looked motivated. Everyone had their own reason for being so motivated, and I think that's what made us so special last year."

Although they failed against the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals, they can look forward to another championship run next season with the core of their roster still intact.
