Breanna Stewart speaks up on shoe brands investing in women basketball players
There are only a few players in the WNBA who's signed to a shoe brand and Breanna Stewart is one of them. In 2021, the two-time champion signed a shoe deal with Puma, although the details of her deal weren't disclosed. But it was reportedly a multiyear deal with the brand.
Her deal with Puma birthed her signature line of shoes, the Stewie. Now, she has three signature shoes with the brand and wants more brands to invest in women athletes, especially other stars in the league.
"[Signature shoes] give the opportunity for young kids to walk into a store and think about playing like one of us," Stewart said. "There are so many great athletes and so much great talent in this league, why don’t we have more signature shoes? It feels like there should be so many more."
Currently, two other players have confirmed signature shoes in the league. One is her star teammate, Sabrina Ionescu, and Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark.
