Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate and current US Vice President, conceded the 2024 election to Donald Trump on Nov. 6, one day after her defeat. In her concession speech, Harris addressed her supporters, offering words of comfort after the crushing loss to Trump.

Harris’ message resonated deeply with many Democrats and supporters, including WNBA player Katie Lou Samuelson, who took to social media to express her gratitude to the vice president following her speech. Samuelson reposted a picture of Harris on her Instagram story with a simple, heartfelt message.

“Thank you,” Samuelson said.

Harris’ speech called for her supporters to continue fighting for what they believe in, as Trump will again take office after losing to current US President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

“While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign…Hear me when I say, the light of America’s promise will always burn bright…As long as we never give up. And as long as we keep fighting,” Harris said in her speech.

Harris, the first-ever woman to serve as US Vice President, received support from several WNBA stars, including Indiana Fever’s Samuelson, Las Vegas Aces’ A’ja Wilson, New York Liberty’s Breanna Stewart and Phoenix Mercury’s Natasha Cloud, among others.

Katie Lou Samuelson praises rookie teammate Caitlin Clark

Katie Lou Samuelson, who was drafted to the WNBA in 2019, threw praise on her teammate Caitlin Clark as the rookie played through immense pressure in her first year in the league.

“I think she handled it great. She always surprises me in a way that she is always herself. She's always light. She's always having fun with all this attention and all this pressure,” Samuelson said.
"Things being said, positive and negative about her. She always come in every single day, and it's the same Caitlin…It's very consistent. It's been a cool thing to see. I didn't know her at all before being on this team. It's been awesome to see her and learn how she is as a person." she added.

Clark liked Taylor Swift’s post endorsing Kamala Harris in September, which caused speculation about her political stance. However, she did not explicitly endorse anyone in the presidential race.

A few days later, the Fever finished the WNBA regular season as the sixth seed, with a 20-20 record before losing in the first round against the Connecticut Sun.
