The Indiana Fever ended the Connecticut Sun's three-game undefeated streak with an 84-80 win on Wednesday.

The Fever had lost all three duels against the No. 2 team in the Eastern Conference this season but successfully exacted revenge.

The first quarter was high-flying, with Indiana taking it 33-26 behind Kelsey Mitchell's 11 points. Caitlin Clark had a strong start, adding seven points, the same as NaLyssa Smith.

For the Sun, DeWanna Bonner and DiJonai Carrington carried the load in the first period with seven points each. Alyssa Thomas contributed five points, and Marina Mabrey scored five off the bench.

The second quarter was closer and more turbulent than the first, with both teams missing multiple shots and scoring under 20 points (18-16 in favor of the Fever).

Indiana got a nine-point lead at halftime, with Mitchell, Hull and Clark scoring in double digits (13, 10 and 10 points, respectively). Thomas and Tyasha Harris led the way for the Sun, scoring nine points each, while Mabrey contributed eight.

The Sun narrowed the deficit after outscoring the Fever 24-18 in the third quarter as they looked to sweep the series, but the home team stayed strong.

Indiana trailed by two (80-78) late in the fourth but a run of six straight points earned it its first win of the season against Connecticut.

Kelsey Mitchell led the way for the Sun with 23 points. She added four rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Caitlin Clark added 19 points with five rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block. She committed seven turnovers, but stepped up when her team needed her the most.

For the Sun, DiJonai Carrington scored a team-best 19 points with four rebounds, two assists and six steals. Alyssa Thomas contributed 17 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals while Marina Mabrey finished with 16 points, two rebounds, four assists, two steals and a couple of big shots to keep her team in the game.

The Indiana Fever vs Connecticut Sun started as a shootout, with the teams combining for 59 points in the first quarter. However, the coaches made adjustments and the game got closer and more tactical.
