After a dominant first quarter from the Fever, the Mercury made things competitive the rest of the way.
Caitlin Clark led all scorers in the first half with 16 points. She also grabbed four rebounds and dished five assists. Kelsey Mitchell contributed 12 points, Aliyah Boston added 11 and NaLyssa Smith contributed 10 to close out a nearly perfect first half for the Fever.
For the Mercury, Kahleah Copper continued her good run, scoring 11 points in the first half, the same as Natasha Cloud. Diana Taurasi added eight points.
Phoenix was able to generate a run of its own in the third quarter, erasing a 17-point deficit to take a 62-61 lead. But Indiana steadied the ship and held firm in the fourth to improve to 12-15 on the season.
Kahleah Copper put on a show with 32 points, eight rebounds and six assists while Natasha Cloud added 19 points.
The Fever were led by the duo of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, who scored 29 and 28 points respectively.
