The long-awaited debut of Unrivaled took place over the weekend, and the league's inaugural season is in full swing. Aliyah Boston's Vinyl Basketball Club took on Rose Basketball Club on opening day, starting the season off in strong fashion.
The Vinyl defeated the Rose 79-73 behind an electric 33-point performance from two-time WNBA All-Star, Rhyne Howard. Boston made her Unrivaled debut following her second WNBA season, coming off the bench for the Vinyl in the win.
Boston logged ten minutes off the bench, seeing the most time of any reserve player for Vinyl BC. She also ignited fans on social media after causing Angel Reese to lose her footing and fall on the floor, knocking down a mid-range jump shot to cap off the highlight play.
She will be back in action for the Vinyl as they prepare for their second Unrivaled matchup. Vinyl BC will take on Phantom Basketball Club on Monday night, with tip-off scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EST on TNT, with streaming available on MAX.
Aliyah Boston leads bench in Vinyl win
Though she struggled with her shooting efficiency, Aliyah Boston provided a mismatch on the glass, finishing second on the team in rebounds. She also played a crucial role in Vinyl's interior defensive gameplan, helping limit Angel Reese to just 3-of-7 shooting from the field in the season debut.
Boston finished with a modest six points on inefficient 3-of-9 shooting. She grabbed seven rebounds with a game-high four offensive rebounds, helping create second-chance opportunities for her squad. She also notched two assists and a steal in her Unrivaled debut.
Aliyah Boston and the Vinyl fended off two 20-point performances from Rose, with Chelsea Gray scoring 21 points on 9-of-20 shooting, alongside Kahleah Copper, who scored a team-high 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting, connecting on two of her five 3-point attempts.
