The Connecticut Sun will play their first game after the WNBA’s midseason break against the Dallas Wings on Friday night. The Sun, one of the league’s top contenders this season, will miss the services of one of their key players, DiJonai Carrington.
Carrington has been ruled out of the game due to personal reasons.
Friday’s game will be the Sun’s first matchup in almost a month, as the WNBA gave way for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In possession of the second spot, the Sun recorded an 18-6 record in the first half of the season and have been one of the most consistent teams in the league. Meanwhile, the Dallas Wings are second-last in the standings with a 6-19 record.
Carrington has been one of the top players for Connecticut, averaging 12.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 24 games. Friday’s matchup will be the first she misses this season.
In Carrington’s absence, the team will lean on Tyasha Harris, Veronica Burton and newly acquired Marina Mabrey.
Carrington’s status for Connecticut’s game versus the Atlanta Dream remains unknown as of writing.

Sun coach Stephanie White has a bigger role for DiJonai Carrington this season
Connecticut Sun coach Stephanie White explained the bigger role DiJonai Carrington has been playing this season and commended her for putting in the work required to be a starter.
"She's ready for the challenge," White told CT Insider in May. "I mean, this was an opportunity for her. She knew it was an opportunity for her coming into the starting lineup, and she's taken it.
"Some players just wait for the opportunity, and then they think it's going to be theirs and they don't just take it. She's taken it, and she's taken ownership of it.”
With Carrington leading the way, the Sun are expected to make a deep playoff run and contend for this year’s WNBA title.
