New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu has been ruled out of Tuesday's game versus the Dallas Wings due to a neck issue.

Initial reports suggested only Betnijah Laney-Hamilton would miss the game, but Ionescu has since been added to the list. The star guard has been dealing with a neck issue since the Aces game on Sunday.

Earlier Jackie Powell reported that Ionescu's status was 'downgraded to questionable'.

"Sabrina Ionescu has been downgraded to QUESTIONABLE with a neck injury," Powell wrote on X.

Ionescu is an integral part of the Liberty's success, and her absence could be a boost for the Wings (6-20).

What happened to Sabrina Ionescu?

Although the moment she got hurt is unclear, Sabrina Ionescu has been dealing with a neck issue since Sunday.

She wasn't originally on the injury report, but the Liberty initially announced that Ionescu was questionable for Tuesday's matchup before ruling her out.

New York has options on the bench to replace Ionescu, including Ivana Dojkic and Marquesha Davis.

Ionescu had a strong start after the Olympic break, scoring 18 and 23 points against the Los Angeles Sparks and Las Vegas Aces, respectively. She shot for 46.2% and 42.9% from the field, respectively, while adding a combined 10 rebounds and nine assists.

Breanna Stewart could have a hard night without Sabrina Ionescu by her side

The Dallas Wings haven't been as competitive as people expected before the season. The absence of Satou Sabally hurt their chances of being a serious threat, but now that the German is back, they can make some noise down the stretch.

Breanna Stewart will be tasked with going up against Sabally, who is fresh after making her return to the court following the Olympic break. Moreover, Maddy Siegrist, a potential candidate to win the 2024 Most Improved Player of the Year award, is listed as probable, adding to Stewart's troubles.
