All eyes will be on Satou Sabally and her sister, Nyara, as Germany gears up for an all-important clash against the USA Women's Team on Sunday (August 4). Both teams are coming off wins against Japan and Belgium respectively, with Sabally torching Japan for 33 points, six rebounds, and three assists. The forward was effective from the deep, landing all eight attempts from the three-point line as Germany notched up a handsome 75-64 win.
All signs point to Sabally suiting up for Germany in their marquee clash against Team USA on Sunday. She has suited up in both games the team has played so far, and barring any unforeseen last-minute change, the Dallas Wings forward is good to go for the final pool clash between the two teams.
Satou Sabally will come in with 17 and 33-point performances from the first two games, and on Sunday she will be facing players who she has played numerous times in the WNBA. Only time will tell if her experience will be enough to help her country stay unbeaten in the group stage. Team USA and Germany have four points each in their two wins so far.
Opening Olympic game marked Satou Sabally's return from injury
Sabally opened her 2024 Paris Olympics campaign with a rich vein of form, with both sisters getting Germany off to a winning start. The game also marked Sabally's return from a left shoulder injury she suffered while playing for the national team in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in February. Satou Sabally underwent a procedure the same month and now appears fully healthy.
The 26-year-old is yet to make her WNBA debut this season after the injury forced her to miss the first half of the edition. But a fully healthy version will see her be the focal point of Germany's offense against a stern Team USA outfit.
