A'ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum and Aces teammates shed tears of joy over Team USA Olympics news

The Las Vegas Aces will have a strong representation in the 2024 Olympics. A'ja Wilson, Jackie Young, Kelsey Plum and Chelsea Gray were selected to represent Team USA and defend the gold medal they've been winning uninterruptedly since 1996.

USA Basketball shared a video on Tuesday showing the four players from the Aces getting emotional after they received the invitation to join Team USA this summer. Kelsey Plum was visibly moved by this invitation, and A'ja Wilson asked teammates to hug her while they all cried at the gym.

"This is something that I don't take for granted. I've been with USAB for a long long time, but it's an honor, it's a blessing to be what you be. Just being a number," Wilson said.
"I've been waiting for this number my whole life. It's usually sweet when you get it but this is one of those moments where it's really sweet," Plum said.

Jackie Young said:

"This is something that you dream of as a little girl. It's a blessing to represent our country, it's a dream come true."
"It's a blessing in my journey. This was always a dream and I didn't know this was possible. I'm excited," Chelsea Gray stated.

The Aces are the defending back-to-back WNBA champions and even though they don't have the best record in the league right now, they remain the squad to beat. They have a terrific team that is always in the conversation for championships, and these selections confirm how great they've been in the past three seasons.

A'ja Wilson avoided serious injury scare against LA Sparks

After the 2024 Olympic roster was leaked over the weekend, A'ja Wilson almost suffered a major injury against the LA Sparks. During Sunday's game against the Californians, the center took a scary fall that left her in visible pain.

In the third quarter of the game, she went to the basket from the right and found Cameron Brink on the way to the ring. They clashed in the air, with the two-time WNBA MVP falling to the ground.

Things got more worrisome when she was surrounded by teammates and covered with a towel while she lay on the floor. Fortunately, nothing serious happened.

Wilson remains a top star in the league, being a solid candidate for the MVP and DPOY awards this campaign.
