Indiana Fever guard Erica Wheeler is known for her toughness on and off the court. But the native of Liberty City, Miami, offered a heartfelt compliment for an NFL star.
Caitlin Clark's backcourt partner took to X let her true feelings about NFL quarterback Jalen Hurts:
"I am not attracted to men AT ALL but Ive always compliment men," Wheeler posted. "Jalen Hurt is one handsome dude!! He got a charisma about him that he know he one of them ones!"
Wheeler's Tweet came in the wake of the Philadelphia Eagles-Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday game, when Jalen Hurts helped lead the Eagles to a dominant 27-13 win.
In that game, Hurts posted impressive numbers in terms of passing yards and pass accuracy. After the Eagles secured the victory, he posed this rhetorical question to members of the media: "So that's what y'all wanted to see, huh?"
Aside from Wheeler, ESPN analyst Domonique Foxworth acknowledged Hurts' charisma. Appearing on the morning program "Get Up," Foxworth said about the Eagles star:
"Jalen Hurts is benefiting from pretty privilege," said Foxworth. "He got up at the press conference after the game, and he acted like he was Josh Allen. Man, you had one good week passing. And everyone forgets it when he starts batting his eyes at you."
Foxworth's comments validate the observation of Wheeler.
Erica Wheeler: Brutally honest with everyone
Wheeler has also been frank with fans who don't think highly of her. Case in point: Shortly after Stephanie White returned to the Indiana Fever as head coach, an online user hurled criticism at White and Wheeler.
The 5-foot-7 guard wasn't having any of it.
"Hahaha you a hater! Love it," said Wheeler in response to the netizen. "Stay there I need my haters too!"
This is reminiscent of Tweets that she posted two months prior, when she appeared to be making a statement of personal resolve:
"And I’ll say this one last time! If you know any piece of journey to the W you would understand why my I DONT CARE what people think of me, especially a stranger!" Wheeler Tweeted. "be forreal! I've been told I "WASN'T..." but I am here!"
Whether it's heaping praise on others or firmly defending herself, Wheeler has shown to be as authentic online as she is on the hardwood.
