Jason Whitlock unleashes sarcastic rant on Angel Reese, mocks Sky rookie after Caitlin Clark's triple-double game: "ROTY debate tightens"

Jason Whitlock took to X (formerly Twitter) to take a shot at Angel Reese after Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark's record night against the LA Sparks on Wednesday. The guard notched up her second triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists as the Fever beat LA 93-86. Soon after the win, the podcaster minced no words in his sarcastic dig at the Chicago Sky rookie.

Whitlock's rant on Reese saw him garner ample flak on social media. That didn't deter Whitlock from weighing in on the "Rookie of the Year" race while calling out Reese.

"Angel Reese did not lose tonight and missed no shots. Rookie of the year debate tightens given Angel's performance."

With Reese and Clark locked in the ROY race, the latest string of wins by the Fever and Clark's stellar performances seems to have put her in the driver's seat.

Reese has been a double-double metronome this season, stacking up 26 DD2s. That didn't necessarily translate to wins as the Sky are holding on to the eighth seed in her rookie season. However, Whitlock called out Reese on a day she didn't have any games.

Jason Whitlock calls Angel Reese most overrated player

The recent tweet was just the latest in the long line of shots that Jason Whitlock has taken against Angel Reese. Earlier in June, he had called out the Chicago Sky forward as an overrated player.

“Angel Reese is arguably the most overrated athlete in all of sports. She is as unskilled as any player in the WNBA. She's awkward. None of this gets actually talked about. Look at the way she actually runs. Her lower body seems to be disconnected from her upper body."

While there is no doubt that Whitlock has been more of a Caitlin Clark supporter over Reese, the comment does come as uncalled for. His responses have been slammed by fans on social media, and the recent one has seen Reese's fans react as well, with some calling him out for tweeting for the sake of engagement.

Aside from the competition between the two rookies, both Clark and Reese have been instrumental in getting the world to sit up and take notice of the WNBA. It is reminiscent of what Magic Johnson and Larry Bird did to elevate the NBA's popularity in the late '80s.
