Kysre Gondrezick is once again a free agent after the Chicago Sky decided to cut her. After a two-year hiatus from the league, she returned this year, determined to make an impact on the young Sky team.

With players like Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter, Marina Mabrey and Kamilla Cardoso, the Sky have managed to be an entertaining squad.

Gondrezick more than once caught the eye of fans due to her pre-game outfits. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to match that flair on the court. She thanked Angel Reese last month for recruiting her to the Sky, but her journey in Chicago is done.

As one of the most popular WNBA players among fans, this news didn't go unnoticed and plenty of them reacted to the decision. Somebody mentioned Jaylen Brown and said he must make some calls to get Kysre Gondrezick on a roster soon.

"JB better start making some calls for her!" one fan wrote.

Others lamented the decision, noting that this is painful for fans and should be painful for players too.

"Waiving players mid season is such a punch in the gut," one fan said.
"Every and any industry stay reminding us that we are all expendable at any given time," another fan expressed.

A group of fans showed their disagreement with the decision, stating that she wasn't given opportunities to shine but still drained a shot against the Aces on Thursday.

"I had a feeling it was going to happen smh, she was very talented but the time she took off didn’t help her tbh and I think they believe she’s not fully locked in and I get it, but man, was she was an site player in college," someone explained.

Kysre Gondrezick was also waived by the Fever two years ago

This isn't the first time Kysre Gondrezick has been waived in the WNBA. Two years ago, the Indiana Fever cut her after picking her as the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft. The guard had stepped away from basketball, citing a need to focus on her mental health.

Following the death of her father, Gondrezick's career suffered a major inflection. It resulted in a two-year hiatus from competition after attempting a comeback with the Sky in 2022.

She scored her first points of the season last night, hitting a 3-pointer against the Aces. She only played five games this season, shooting for 28.6% from the field and 16.7% from beyond the arc.
