USC Trojans star and WNBA prospect JuJu Watkins recently sat down for an interview with Sports Illustrated. In it, she talked about a range of topics related to basketball and the WNBA.
The league itself has seen the influx of multiple highly-rated stars in this year’s class, and Watkins hopes to follow suit soon.
Currently 18, she was also asked about another popular aspect of the WNBA, which has seemingly received extra attention of late.
WNBA players tend to show up to pre-game tunnels sporting a range of glamorous outfits, which has effectively made the player tunnel before games a fashion runway of sorts.
The interview saw Watkins being asked about the players she thinks are the best-dressed when it comes to the WNBA. In her list of five players, she named Cameron Brink. She also included a former Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever star who was recently waived by the former, in Kysre Gondrezick:
“I’m gonna say, Arike Ogunbowale, Diamond DeShields, Cameron Brink, Kysre, and did I say Cameron? I probably said Cameron. And A’Ja, A’Ja Wilson.”
Each of the above stars, including the LA Sparks rookie and the 2nd overall pick of the 2024 WNBA draft, Cameron Brink, have shown off stylish outfits in pre-game tunnels. Watkins said the following about Brink:
“I would say, honestly, Cameron Brink. I love her style. She's literally a model, so anything she puts on is gonna look great. I'm a big fan of hers.”
Brink has consistently received praise for her fashion sense, although each of the other players Watkins mentioned aren't too far behind either.
JuJu Watkins marks A’Ja Wilson as her favorite player, pegs Angel Reese for Rookie of the Year
Watkins had some great compliments for both Las Vegas Aces’ A’Ja Wilson and the Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese. She claimed that Wilson is her favorite player to watch this campaign, and called the 27-year-old’s performances inspiring:
“She's been having a remarkable season already and, you know, we're not even midway through. So, just to see what she's doing this season, definitely inspiring.”
Furthermore, she had similar things to say about Angel Reese, who is currently embroiled in an epic race for the Rookie of the Year award.
"As of right now, I got Angel. She's been killing it."
The 19-year-old has every right to claim the above, considering Angel Reese has now produced 15 straight double-doubles, a league record. Despite being only the 7th overall pick of the draft, Reese has become the biggest steal of her class and is currently seemingly winning the ROTY race.
