"Just disgusting" - WNBA analyst lays into Nancy Lieberman for 'throwing Sheryl Swoopes under the bus' on Stephen A. Smith Show

A WNBA analyst was unhappy with Nancy Lieberman's appearance on "The Stephen A. Smith Show" and how she threw Sheryl Swoopes under the bus. Lieberman replaced Swoopes on Sunday's Dallas Wings-Indiana Fever broadcast and recently shared her deteriorated relationship with the four-time WNBA champ.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Lindsay Gibbs of Power Plays News called out Lieberman for her comments about Swoopes. "Lady Magic" revealed on "The Stephen A. Smith Show" that her friendship with the three-time WNBA MVP soured due to her commentary about Caitlin Clark.

"Nancy Lieberman throwing Sheryl under the bus to cozy up to Stephen A Smith is just disgusting," Gibbs tweeted.

Sheryl Swoopes has been widely criticized by fans and some analysts for her behavior towards Caitlin Clark. Swoopes has been throwing shade at Clark since last year, when the Iowa star broke her record for most points in a single NCAA tournament.

The WNBA legend followed it up by spreading misinformation about Clark in a viral appearance on the "Gil's Arena" podcast. She falsely claimed that the 22-year-old guard was in her fifth year and was shooting 40 shots per game. She was not a fan of her record-breaking year, wherein Clark became the all-time NCAA scoring leader.

However, people called Swoopes out for making those claims considering Clark was in her fourth year and was only averaging 22.7 shots per game. For those wondering, Swoopes shot 19.2 attempts per game in her final year in college.

These false claims were one of the reasons why Nancy Lieberman had a falling out with Swoopes. Lieberman tried to talk to her friend about it, but the Texas Tech product got upset instead.

"She got upset with me on the phone and I was like, 'Sheryl, I'm not doing anything to hurt you. I'm just sharing.' And so our relationship pretty much is not happening at this point. I tried to talk to her at the Final Four. She didn't want to talk to me," Lieberman said on 'The Stephen A. Show.'

Despite her recent silence about Caitlin Clark, Sheryl Swoopes didn't take long to respond to Nancy Lieberman's comments on "The Stephen A. Smith Show." Swoopes claimed that she's doing well despite her falling out with Lieberman, as well as Stephen A. Smith.

"Now here you go! I get what you trying to do wit ya boy @stephenasmith but it ain't working. You know good and well what happened. And ditto...my life is good without you too(and him). You wanna go there?" Swoopes tweeted.

It will be interesting to see how Sheryl Swoopes reacts if Caitlin Clark wins the WNBA Rookie of the Year. While Angel Reese has been putting up double-doubles, Clark is a heavy favorite to win the award and the odds are she's going to take it home at the end of the season.
