Caitlin Clark is back with a bang. The WNBA superstar quelled any notions about rust when she returned to the court with a stunning display against the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night. Clark's teammates have the pleasure of watching her up close and one in particular was in awe of the guard's dominant outing at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Playing in her first WNBA game since July 17, Clark put on a dazzling show for the 17,274 spectators in attendance. The 22-year-old Iowa native finished with a game-high 29 points and chipped in with 10 assists and five rebounds. With every victory crucial at this stage of the season, Clark led her team to a 98-89 victory against the Mercury, improving the Indiana Fever's chances of a playoff birth.
Fever forward Temi Fagbenle was full of praise for her teammate after another memorable performance. Fagbenle posted a series of images and clips highlighting the rising star's quality on the court. A video of Caitlin Clark drilling a three-pointer in the first quarter is accompanied by the caption:
"Just peeped her stats, ROTY loading"
In another image on her Instagram story, Fagbenle pointed out that Clark is truly one of a kind.

The WNBA Rookie of the Year battle is heating up with just over a month remaining in the regular season. Clark and Chicago Sky's Angel Reese are both in contention for the prestigious award after strong seasons.
Reese finished with 11 points and 15 rebounds on Thursday to record her 18th double-double of the year. She is averaging 13.4 points, 12 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
Clark has matched Reese every step of the way. The Fever guard is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists over 26 games.
Caitlin Clark has broken several WNBA records in her first season in the league
After an impressive collegiate career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, Caitlin Clark has made an instant impact at the professional level.
Earlier this season, Clark became the first rookie in the history of the WNBA to record a triple-double. She notched up 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds against the New York Liberty.
On July 17, Clark broke the league record for assists in a single game with 19 against the Dallas Wings.
After Friday's impressive performance over the Mercury, Clark became the first rookie ever to record over 450 points and 200 assists in a single season.
