This year, Caitlin Clark and the WNBA All-Stars picked up a massive win over Team USA at the WNBA's All-Star weekend in Phoenix. With action set to resume around the league today after the WNBA All-Star/Olympic break, anticipation for the remainder of the season is at an all-time high. Apparently, anticipation for next year's All-Star weekend is already at an all-time high as well.
According to a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Marriott Indianapolis hotel is fully booked, with no availability for the week of Jul. 13-19 next summer.
The dates coincide with the recently announced dates for the 2025 WNBA All-Star weekend announced by WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert on Thursday. As Engelbert revealed, the 21st WNBA All-Star game is set to take place on Jul. 19, 2025 at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis where Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever play.
Fans eager to attend will have to find another hotel to stay at besides the JW Marriott Indianapolis, with the hotel's website showing no availabilities at the time of publication.
Despite the hotel being booked up, there are still several other hotels in the area that are showing availabilities for the weekend, like the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, and the Omni Severin Hotel.
Looking at the WNBA's decision to hold All-Star weekend in Indiana amid Caitlin Clark's attention-grabbing rookie season
While Caitlin Clark is still in the midst of her rookie season with the Indiana Fever, she and the team have quickly become the most-watched team in the league.
From the time Clark declared for the WNBA Draft, there was added attention placed on the Fever, which led to 36 of the team's 40 games being aired on national TV.
Moreover Caitlin Clark and the Fever have drawn in record viewership numbers on TV, as well as in terms of fan attendance. The way Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO Mel Raines sees things, the WNBA is in the middle of a pivotal time, and Indiana is playing a key role in that.
In a statement relayed by the Indiana Fever's website, she explained:
“We are in the middle of a pivotal, transformational moment in the history of the WNBA and women’s basketball, and we are thrilled Indiana will be the center of it all with the game’s biggest stars on display during next season’s All-Star Game.
"Leaders across our community are going to do what we do best: welcome fans from around the nation and the globe to Indiana, raise the bar for future host cities, and leave a lasting legacy for our city and state.”
Action will begin on Friday, Jul. 18 with the 3-point contest sponsored by Starry, followed by the WNBA Skill Challenge. The next night, All-Star action will tip-off from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with the format expected to return to normal after this year's Team USA-WNBA All-Star game.
