Chicago Sky rookie Kamilla Cardoso lost a friendly bet with her former college coach Dawn Staley and must now wear a U.S. women's national team jersey. A large one to be precise.

The 23-year-old South Carolina standout had a wager with the Gamecocks coach Staley on the Olympic women's soccer finals between the United States and Brazil on Saturday. The bet had Staley having to wear a Brazilian jersey in the event the South American team won while Cardoso had to sport a USWNT jersey in the tunnel and on IG if the U.S. emerged victorious.

The U.S.won gold in the finals after a goal from Mallory Swanson in the 57th minute.

Staley made sure to remind her former player of their bet, taking to X, formerly Twitter, what size Kamilla Cardoso wanted for her USWNT jersey to wear, which the latter begrudgingly answered, saying:

"Large jersey i guess"

The gold was the fifth for the United States and fourth in the last seven iterations of the Games.

Chicago Sky coach sees better things for Kamilla Cardoso in WNBA

Chicago Sky rookie Kamilla Cardoso is steadily finding her footing in the WNBA and her coach sees better things for her as she grows her game moving forward.

Selected third overall in this year's WNBA Draft, the two-time NCAA champion with South Carolina, has seen injury hamper her first pro season but is finding her way through it.

In the 18 games she has played for the Sky (10-14), where she started in 15, Kamilla Cardoso has been good for 8.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks per contest in 26 minutes of play.

Speaking to reporters after one of their games back in July, Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon spoke about their rookie and their expectations of her.

The coach said, by way of The Mirror:

"She is going to be one that you talk about forever in this league. She will be known as one of the best bigs to play this game. You can mark that... She's easy to coach, and she's only going to get better."

With the Sky, Kamilla Cardoso, along with fellow rookie Angel Reese, is tasked to help a team that finished eighth in the standings last season and swept in the opening round of the playoffs by eventual champions Las Vegas Aces.

The team resumes its campaign following the Olympic break on Aug. 15 in a home game against the Phoenix Mercury.
