The Chicago Sky drafted two of the best rookies of 2024 in Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. Reese had an exceptional start to her WNBA career, while Cardoso was plagued with injuries and inconsistent minutes. Some fans are trying to create a divide between the two stars, but Cardoso is not having any of it.
The 23-year-old center went on Instagram Live recently to interact with her fans who supported her career throughout college and into the pros. However, one fan was trying to be slick and say that Cardoso was better than Reese.
Here's the Brazilian star's response:
"Man, why? Like nobody's better than nobody. We're all good."
The Chicago Sky ended their season on a disappointing note after failing to make the WNBA playoffs. But it's great to see Kamilla Cardoso defend Angel Reese from fans trying to divide the team. Reese missed the final six games of the season due to a hand injury, while Cardoso didn't play in the last two because of a shoulder issue.
Reese was on fire from start to finish, breaking double-double records as a rookie. She established herself as one of the best rebounders in the league, although her finishing on the offensive end needs some work. She's having trouble consistently making shots near the rim, which has been the main criticism of her game.
On the other hand, Cardoso caught a bad break in the preseason when she hurt her shoulder and missed the first six games of the season. She also didn't get consistent minutes under coach Theresa Weatherspoon, who has been called out by the fan base because of it.
While Cardoso is not as good at rebounding as Reese, she's more polished offensively and can make easier baskets around the rim. There are times wherein she'll be the center of the offense before the team veers off to a different one.
Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and the rest of the Sky will be busy this offseason
The Chicago Sky are heading into the offseason earlier than expected after a tough finish to the campaign. The Sky had the No. 8 seed after the break but barely won any games to hold on to a playoff spot. However, the team is expected to be active this summer.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the veterans will hold an offseason workout with young players such as Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. Some are also expected to play overseas keep themselves active and keep the paycheck coming.
Reese will be playing in the Unrivaled League starting in January, while Cardoso is going to China to suit up for the Shanghai Swordfish. Chennedy Carter is also scheduled to play in China, while Brianna Turner will be in Australia. Dana Evans, Diamond DeShields, Isabelle Harrison, and Lindsay Allen are all heading to Europe.
