WNBA star and former Iowa Hawkeye Caitlin Clark celebrates her 23rd birthday today. Throughout the day various pages have continued to wish the Indiana Fever star well as she enjoys some time off following an action-packed 2024 that saw her make the jump from college right to the WNBA.
In honor of Clark's birthday, former Iowa Hawkeyes teammate and Golden State Valkyrie standout Kate Martin wished her longtime friend a happy birthday with a collage of photos shared to her Instagram story.
"Happy Birthday🤍 Love you," Martin wrote.
Clark then reposted the birthday shoutout with a teary-eyed emoji, as seen below:
Along with Martin's post, Clark shared a bunch of the birthday wishes she received on her Instagram story. Among the people who wished the Fever star was her teammate Aliyah Boston who shouted Clark out as her sister, as well as Flau'Jae Johnson and the Indiana Fever's official Instagram account.
Caitlin Clark pays it forward on her birthday, donating 22,000 books to school children
Caitlin Clark made headlines last year when she gifted all of her Iowa teammates Nike shoes for her 22nd birthday. This year, however, instead of giving out gifts to her teammates, Clark decided to pay it forward.
Through her Caitlin Clark Foundation, and a partnership with Scholastic, the reigning Rookie of the Year is donating 22,000 books to kids in Iowa and Indiana.
The donation was announced in a press release, where Clark spoke about how important it was to gift kids with books given how much it meant to her to pick books from the Scholastic flyer when she was a kid.
"I remember picking out the books from the Scholastic flyer and how empowering that was for me as a child, and how motivated I was to read," Clark said. "I want to help kids have the same experience, to develop their reading skills and open their imaginations to dream big."
Per the release, which was relayed by Hawk Central, the books will be distributed to kids in grades 1-8, as well as through children's hospitals and other non-profits.
While Clark has left an indellible mark on both Indiana and Iowa thanks to her on-court play, it's clear that her impact extends well beyond the court.
