Las Vegas Aces guard Kate Martin has been making the most of the WNBA offseason by spending time with her girlfriend, Claire Gransee. The two bonded over a romantic stroll, where Martin carried Gransee on a piggyback ride.

Gransee posted a photo on her Instagram story and added a two-word caption that summed up the moment.

“Uber driver,” Gransee wrote.

The two have been in a relationship since June after meeting at the University of Iowa, where Martin played six seasons with the Hawkeyes and was a teammate of WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark.

Gransee has since often posted pictures of her moments with her girlfriend and other life events.

Shortly after Martin entered the WNBA, Gransee graduated from Iowa with a Major in Communication Studies and minors in Law and Media Literacy. According to her LinkedIn page, Gransee landed a job in a Boston-based recruitment agency named Beaconhill Technologies.

On the other hand, Martin was drafted as the 17th pick in the second round by the Las Vegas Aces in the 2024 WNBA draft. While she was mostly given sporadic minutes as a rookie in a contending team, Martin averaged 2.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists on 11.5 minutes per game.

Martin was mostly used as a spark plug for the stacked Aces’ roster, which features MVP A’ja Wilson. After playing a small role in her rookie year, she is expected to be a part of the regular rotation next season.

Before Martin joined the team, the Aces were reigning two-time WNBA champions before losing to the eventual 2024 champions, New York Liberty in the semifinals. Martin only played one game in the playoffs.

Kate Martin will join other WNBA stars in new Unrivaled season

Kate Martin and Claire Gransee will have another month of undeterred time together as the Aces star is set to join the inaugural season of the Unrivaled Basketball League, which is scheduled to start in January in Miami, Florida.

Martin will play for Laces Basketball Club, composed of Minnesota Lynx’s Kayla McBride and Courtney Williams, Connecticut Sun’s Alyssa Thomas and Washington Mystics’ Stefanie Dolson.

The 3-on-3 league that was co-founded by Lynx star Napheesa Collier and Liberty’s Breanna Stewart will have six teams. The tournament is set to run for three months and will be broadcast on TNT.
