Kelsey Plum once called out WNBA commissioner to arrange ASG tickets for all league players

Kelsey Plum was not one to stand and watch as WNBA players struggled to get tickets during the 2023 WNBA All-Star weekend in Las Vegas. The 2x WNBA champ called out league commissioner Cathy Engelbert on social media with a stern tweet demanding tickets to be arranged for all the players to come to witness the marquee weekend activities.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Plum minced no words when he dished out a blunt tweet.

"ALL WNBA players should get a ticket to the all-star game/skills challenge, I’m sick of my people being treated second class. The league gotta be better, there is no excuse. @CathyEngelbert I’m sure we can fix this before the weekend…"

Kelsey Plum wasn't the only Las Vegas Aces star to voice out the issue. Teammate Alysha Clark also took to X with an earnest plea to Engelbert. The Aces had four players named to the All-Star Game that edition, with veteran guard Chelsea Gray and wing Jackie Young joining Plum and A'ja Wilson.

The quartet was playing for the same team after Wilson, serving as co-captain alongside New York Liberty's Breanna Stewart, drafted them.

Kelsey Plum pulls out of 'Unrivaled' Women's Basketball League

Earlier last week, Kelsey Plum announced that she would be pulling out of 'Unrivaled', the much-awaited 3-on-3 league featuring some marquee WNBA stars. Despite agreeing to play initially, the guard later announced that she was withdrawing from the competition.

"I've decided to not take part in the inaugural season of Unrivaled to take some more time for myself this offseason. I appreciate the league's understanding and being so accommodating. I wish the league and all of the players nothing but the best and I'm excited to watch!"

Plum was a vital cog of the Las Vegas outfit that won back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023 and then appeared in 44 WNBA games, including the playoffs, in 2024. She also suited up for the United States to bring home the gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Kelsey Plum and the Aces made the playoffs this 2024 WNBA season despite not being their clinical best. She averaged 17.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists last season, but LV was handed a semifinal exit by the New York Liberty who went on to win their maiden WNBA title.
