On Wednesday, DiJonai Carrington and the Connecticut Sun suffered an 84-80 defeat against the Indiana Fever on the road at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. For the Fever, Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark delivered great performances. However, Carrington left the arena with a trace of bitterness, especially when she shushed a fan in the third quarter.
She expressed her bitterness on her social media account, calling out the Indiana Fever fans as the 'nastiest' of all in the WNBA.
"The Indiana Fever have the nastiest fans in the W. ew," she wrote on X.
On Reddit, a discussion on Carrington's remark started with some fans getting back to her.
"Lmaooo how did i know she would tweet sumn after the game," a fan wrote.
Not only Reddit but also the Fever fans on X were not amused by Carrington's statement and clapped back at her in the comments section of her post.
"Oh looks like y'all feelings hurt. Take the L and move on," @Sudharshan_ak said.
"You taunted and got smoked. Don’t be a sore loser," @Curtis_Bailey said.
"To be fair you was part of the problem with the provocation," @tobiasnasty said.
Another fan called out Carrington, questioning her comments on a losing night.
"Now DiJonai I’m a supporter but where were these tweets at when y’all won the first 3 games? Gotta take the L on the chin," @PlugThaZeus said.
"When you won there you had nothing to say and now that you lost you do?" @G7SportsTalk said.
DiJonai Carrington had a ready response to the comments she received on the statement. She made another post sarcastically mocking the people who were disrespectful towards her on social media.
"But I’m a racist, jealous, c**n, monkey, hatin a** b**** who needs to go back to Africa when I do it huh? plssss. Like I said, this is basketball," she wrote on X.
The Connecticut Sun are enjoying a great season and Carrington has led them to victory on many nights. On Saturday, they will face the Washington Mystics at the Entertainment and Sports Arena.
