The LA Sparks will attempt to recover from a four-game losing streak when they take on the 2023 WNBA finalists New York Liberty at the Barclays Center in New York later today. However, they must do it without the presence of their star player Cameron Brink, who suffered an ACL tear in her left knee during the loss against the Connecticut Sun on June 18.

Scheduled to tip-off at 4:30 AM GMT+5:30 on Friday, the New York Liberty come into this match off the back of a 99-93 loss against Phoenix Mercury. However, it came following an eight-game winning streak, which means that they boast of a 12-3 record thus far and will be the favorites against a Brink-less Sparks.

LA Sparks vs New York Liberty: Injury reports

LA Sparks injury report for June 21

The biggest absentee for the Sparks is Cameron Brink, whose knee injury is expected to keep her out for the rest of the season. That has the potential to derail the Sparks’ campaign, as they come into this matchup without Azura Stevens as well.

Liberty also has two absentees for this game. Nyara Sabelly has a back injury which keeps her out, while Courtney Vandersloot is also doubtful, and has not played since their early June fixture against the Chicago Sky.

LA Sparks vs New York Liberty: Key Matchups

In the absence of Cameron Brink, the Sparks will likely struggle to contain the stacked offensive lineup that the Liberty are expected to show up with. Sabrina Ionescu will be the usual suspect alongside Brenna Stewart and Jonquel Jones, while the Sparks will be hoping for a well-rounded offense, and will need all of their starting stars to deliver during the game.

Brink’s absence also means that Dearica Hamby will once again be expected to take up much of the offensive responsibility, although all signs point to a straightforward victory for the New York Liberty. Both Brenna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu are in compelling form and will be expected to take matters into their own hands.
