The Las Vegas Aces trolled the Seattle Storm on Tuesday via a post X, formerly Twitter, on a thread that dated back to July. The official X handle of the Aces reposted a tweet made by the Storm and accompanied it with a smoking duck GIF.
These hilarious interactions between the two WNBA teams came after the Aces swept the Storm 2-0 in the first round of the playoffs. The original tweet of the thread dates back to July when the Seattle Storm posted a GIF of a mother waking up her baby. The Storm account had posted the GIF ahead of the regular-season game against the Las Vegas Aces on July 10.
Seattle lost that matchup with a final score of 84-79. The Aces' X handle had taken the opportunity to troll the Storm and posted a GIF in reply. However, the Storm shrugged it off, saying that they would meet them in September, referring to the playoff clash.
It did not turn out in their favor, as the Storm lost the best of three series. The Aces then reminded the Storm of their bold declaration from a few months back.
Las Vegas Aces cruise past the Seattle Storm to have last year's WNBA Finals rematch
On Tuesday, the Las Vegas Aces won Game 2 of their best-of-three playoff series against the Seattle Storm to qualify for the WNBA semifinals. The Aces sealed the matchup with a final score of 83-76. Kelsey Plum led the charge for the Aces, recording 29 points, six rebounds and three assists.
A'ja Wilson also delivered an elite performance, netting 24 points, 13 rebounds and two assists. The Las Vegas Aces are now matched up against their archrivals, the New York Liberty, who faced them last year in the WNBA Finals. The Liberty made their way to the semifinals after sweeping the Atlanta Dream in their best-of-three series.
Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart were the star performers for the Liberty in those first-round playoff games. Stewart scored a total of 33 points in both games, while Ionescu netted 53. Last season, when these two teams faced each other, the Aces walked out as the Champions with a 3-1 record.
However, this season things might turn out differently. The Aces went up against the Liberty three times this regular season and have lost all three matchups. The first game of the WNBA semifinals between these rivals will be played on Saturday.
