After entering the WNBA with massive expectations, Caitlin Clark has managed to live up to the hype. As the regular season comes to a close, NBA icon LeBron James' friend made a case for her to receive the MVP title over frontrunner A'ja Wilson.
From the start of the season, Clark has been the massive frontrunner for Rookie of the Year. However, following multiple historical feats, some have started to aim higher for the Indiana Fever guard. In the last couple of weeks, fans and analysts have debated if Clark belongs in the MVP conversation.
While ranting about the WNBA on Instagram, Cuffs the Legend shared his thoughts on Caitlin Clark. He feels Clark should win ROY and receive MVP honors over A'ja Wilson.
Cuffs the Legend cited multiple reasons why Clark should get the nod over Wilson. He didn't discredit what the Las Vegas Aces star has done but did point out that she plays on a far more talented roster. It was also mentioned how the Fever were one of the worst teams in the league before Clark arrived.
Clark's case was wrapped up by acknowledging her historic triple-double feat and how she has managed to make the players around her better.
"It's about who the most valubale player in the WNBA is," Cuffs the Legend said. "And I just think it's Caitlin Clark."
Longtime analyst gives Caitlin Clark MVP nod over A'ja Wilson
Cuffs the Legend isn't the only one who has made a case for Caitlin Clark to take home MVP over A'ja Wilson. Earlier this week on his radio show, longtime sports analyst Dan Patrick also endorsed the Indiana Fever guard.
"I think she should be up for MVP," Patrick said. "Rookie of the Year, foregone conclusion. A'ja Wilson is the best player in the game, not even a debate. But I'm talking about value, value to a franchise, value to a league."
Even though Caitlin Clark has done incredible things as a rookie, what Wilson has done can't be overlooked. She came out of the gates strong, put on an MVP performance in the Olympics, and has continued to be one of the WNBA's top stars. This season, the two-time MVP is averaging 27.5 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
Value is always the most cited factor in MVP debates and is a focal point now. Before Clark arrived, the Fever were regularly towards the bottom of the standings. Now, they are reaching the postseason for the first time in nearly a decade.
Seeing how many people have advocated for Clark to take home MVP, she might end up giving the Aces star a run for her money when it comes time to vote.
